In July 2015, Playmate Kayla Rae Reid described her dream man as, “dominant, with a rough side who still knows how to be an old-fashioned gentleman and treat me like a princess.” It didn’t take long for the blonde bombshell to find these amatory qualities in decorated Olympic swimmer, Ryan Lochte, who proposed to the vivacious swimsuit model atop a picturesque mountain in Malibu after a romantic helicopter tour just one year later. The two married in January 2018 in an intimate, no frills ceremony at a courthouse in Gainesville, Florida where only Lochte’s father witnessed the nuptials. “I love finding out who a man is–and who I am–when the drinks kick in and the lights go out,” she cheekily quipped during her sultry pictorial prior to meeting the blue-eyed man of her dreams.

Born in Fairfax, Virginia, Reid moved to Palm Springs, California when she was 10-years-old. The peppy youngster pursued cheerleading until college, with pie-eyed dreams of one day getting famous and quickly found work at Monster Energy as a Monster Girl, touring the motorsports circuit. Although the determined Playmate would pose for any month of the year, July holds special significance for Reid. “July is my birth month, so from the beginning I prayed to be Miss July. This is huge for me,” she tells Playboy. The perpetually positive model has high hopes that being a Playmate will lead to bigger and better things. Her dream is to one day launch her own TV career.

Reid also knows how to enjoy the heat: expect to see her sipping tequila on the rocks at Miami’s music festivals. “Call me the sunshine chick,” she jokes. “I love the humidity, the heat. I can lie in the sun forever.” Since weather tends to affect Reid’s often sunny disposition, she’ll chase tropical, balmy conditions wherever they take her. A few of her guilty pleasures include: nut butters, dorky documentaries and cooking. She also has a knack for building IKEA furniture – a quality anybody can appreciate.

“I always want to be the best version of myself. A part of that is people know me not only as a Playmate but as an intellectual, determined, driven woman,” she told Playboy during her adorably rural pictorial. “As I say, if you dream it, you have it. Right now, I feel like I can do anything.”
