Best known for her portrayal of Sam McCall, whom she’s portrayed for 10 seasons on the longtime running, 55-year old soap drama General Hospital, Kelly Marie Monaco originally had big dreams of making it as a model. So back in 1996, she took a leap of faith and she sent a photo to Playboy. It was a wise decision. One year later, the Philly-born beauty became Playmate of the Year, after posing in our April 1997 issue. Throughout her tenure with Playboy, Monaco was also featured in many Playboy Special Edition publications.

Alongside her model aspirations, this middle child of four sisters took acting classes very early in her career with the hopes of making it big whichever way she could. Kelly’s acting work became so solidly successful, her modeling career ended up taking a backseat to her many appearances on the small and big screen.

Monaco's TV and film projects include  BaywatchDancing with the Stars (she competed in two seasons, winning her first and finishing third in her second), Port CharlesDirty Soap Mumford and BASEketball. She also judged the 2009 Miss USA pageant. If winning the first-ever season of Dancing with the Stars and returning for the show’s 15th season and finishing third says anything about the brunette seductress’s work ethic, it’s that Monaco’s earned everything she’s set out to achieve and more. We’re honored to have given this classic beauty one of her first ever professional opportunities— gracing our historic glossy pages.
